Carina Medical Centre has some of Brisbane’s leading women’s doctors. We are dedicated to providing a high standard of care for all of our patients and meeting the complex needs of women and families’ health concerns.
Pap Tests and Cervical Cancer Vaccinations
The Australian government recommends that all women undergo a Cervical Screening Test at least once every five years. This replaces the Pap Test, which was recommended every two years. The test will feel similar to the old Pap Test, but the new methods of storing and analyzing the sample is where the improved efficiency and greater detection efficacy comes from.
Our women’s doctors take their duty of care seriously. If you need to have sensitive procedures performed, such as a pap test or vaccination for cervical cancer, speak to one of our friendly women’s doctors.
A clinical breast exam is usually carried out by a healthcare professional, such as a women’s doctor, and may be more likely to find abnormalities or known warning signs of cancer. It is a step above a breast self-exam, which you should conduct at home yourself on a regular basis.
We strongly encourage all women to book themselves in regularly for breast examinations. A correctly performed clinical examination by one of our women’s doctors can be invaluable in identifying breast cancer at an early stage.
Maintaining good sexual health is important. Regular checkups and a good knowledge base of your body and things that you need to be aware of will put you in good stead for staying sexually healthy.
If you need to visit a sexual health clinic in Brisbane, we’ve got you covered. Our women’s doctors can provide you with the relevant advice on sexual health and related issues. We can assist with sexually transmitted infections and other sexual health concerns.
Premenstrual syndrome, period cramps and related issues can have a devastating effect on our physical and emotional health. If you’re facing menstrual health problems or experiencing significant period pain or stomach aches, speak to one of our women’s doctors for assistance.
We can also assist with premenstrual dysphoric disorder and other serious issues related to menstruation. We have a broad suite of professionals in-house including a psychologist and dietician who may be able to help you manage your period problems more effectively.
If you’re considering in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) or need to have a female fertility/infertility test conducted, we can assist you with this. We can conduct the necessary blood tests, scans and egg count tests to determine whether you will face any difficulties conceiving or need assistance in any other way.
IVF can be a long journey, and not all women may be eligible for the procedure. By working closely with you, we can help you understand the ins and outs of IVF and related treatments. Further, we can gain some insight into your unique situation which will enable us to help you more effectively.
If you have further questions regarding the entire process of fertility investigation and fertility tests, one of our women’s doctors will happily explain the process to you. It’s different for every person, so you’ll need to book an appointment.
