Dr Anita Chang is an experienced General Practitioner with a special interest in medical acupuncture, which is now the primary focus of her practice.
Dr Chang graduated from the University of Queensland Medical School in 1993 and obtained her Fellowship in General Practice in 1995. Following many years of general practice, Anita developed an interest in complementary approaches to healthcare and the role they can play in supporting patients’ overall wellbeing.
In 2006, she commenced formal studies in medical acupuncture and was awarded her Fellowship of the Australian Medical Acupuncture College (AMAC) in 2010. She is a committee member of AMAC and is actively involved in teaching medical acupuncture.
Dr Chang takes a holistic approach to treatment, recognising the connection between the body and mind. She combines medical acupuncture with a mindful approach, with the aim of supporting patients towards greater balance, relaxation and wellbeing.
Medical Acupuncture
Dr Chang welcomes both new and existing patients seeking medical acupuncture treatment. A referral is not required to make an appointment.
The initial acupuncture consultation is approximately 40 minutes, allowing time for a thorough assessment and development of an appropriate treatment approach. Subsequent appointments are generally 20 minutes.
Dr Chang’s practice is focused specifically on medical acupuncture and guided visualisation. She does not provide general GP consultations as part of her acupuncture practice, and patients requiring ongoing management of general medical conditions should continue to see their usual GP.
Dr Chang also has an interest in guided visualisation, using relaxation and mindfulness techniques to support a greater sense of calm, focus and motivation as part of a patient’s overall wellbeing.
New and existing patients are welcome to book with Dr Chang for medical acupuncture and guided visualisation.
