Dr Amit Patel is a General Practitioner with special interests in procedural medicine, skin cancer medicine, dermatology and men’s health. Originally from New Zealand, he completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at the University of Auckland before moving to Brisbane to study medicine at the University of Queensland.
With an extensive surgical background, accredited urology training and advanced postgraduate training in skin cancer medicine and dermatology, Amit provides comprehensive skin checks, skin cancer surgery, vasectomy, adult circumcision and a broad range of office-based surgical procedures. He is passionate about delivering meticulous procedural care while ensuring every patient feels informed, comfortable and confident throughout their treatment.
Alongside private practice, Amit works as a GP with Special Interest (GPwSI) in Urology within Queensland Health, providing specialist urological assessment, endoscopic procedures and surgery in the public hospital system. Continuing to work in this role allows him to maintain advanced procedural skills while remaining closely connected with contemporary specialist practice.
Amit believes the future of healthcare lies not only in treating disease, but in helping people maximise their healthspan—the years they live in good health. Through prevention, early diagnosis and evidence-based care, he aims to help patients stay healthy, active and independent throughout every stage of life.
Outside of medicine, Amit enjoys spending time with his wife, who is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, their two young children and two dogs. He also enjoys travelling, reading, technology, cars and keeping active through sport.
