About Brenda Leung

Brenda is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist and a member of Speech Pathology Australia with broad clinical experience across hospital, community, and aged care settings. She works with individuals with a focus on enhancing communication and swallowing function to support independence, wellbeing, and quality of life.

Brenda is dedicated to providing culturally responsive care to individuals from diverse backgrounds. She is known for her clinical insight, collaborative approach, and commitment to evidence-based practice. Brenda also mentors allied health assistants and contributes meaningfully to interdisciplinary care teams.

Scope of Practice

Brenda provides assessment and intervention in the following areas:

  • Aphasia – Acquired language disorders
  • Acquired Apraxia of Speech – Motor planning speech impairments
  • Dysarthria – Slurred or effortful speech due to neurological conditions
  • Dysphagia – Swallowing and feeding difficulties
  • Dysphonia – Voice disorders related to vocal misuse, reflux, laryngeal hypersensitivity, vocal cord dysfunction, COPD, dementia, traumatic brain injury, etc
  • Cognitive-Communication Disorders – Difficulties related to processing speed, reasoning, attention, memory, problem-solving, executive functioning, etc
  • Social Communication Disorders – Challenges with pragmatic and interpersonal communication
  • Chronic Cough and Dysfunctional Breathing – Behavioural therapy for persistent cough and breathing-related voice issues
  • Gender Affirming Voice and Communication – Voice and communication training tailored to support gender identity

Brenda has a strong clinical interest in supporting individuals with swallowing difficulties through safe and person-centred intervention, including swallowing rehabilitation and the development of tailored mealtime management strategies.
